General Education Development (GED) Preparation
General Education Development (GED) Preparation is a self-paced program designed to help you study and prepare to take the GED tests. Day or evening drop-in classroom training is available. Our staff will work with you on the subjects in which you need improvement. Practice tests help monitor your progress and prepare you for taking the official GED tests. The time needed to complete the GED varies for each student.

Computer Skills Training / Digital Literacy/ Information Technology (IT)
Computer skills are important for many aspects of life and work in the 21st century. We can help you learn to use computers, even if you have no experience at all!Get more comfortable using computers and maybe even prepare for a future career in Information Technology (IT).
At Harmony, no experience is needed to begin. We start with computer skills development using the Northstar Digital Literacy lessons and assessments. The program then focuses on training for the Microsoft Office Specialist Certificate. A Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certificate can be earned for Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Students may begin this free course at any time and certification tests are offered onsite. Check the class schedule for class times.
Want to get more comfortable using computers and maybe even prepare for a future career in Information Technology (IT)? At Harmony, no experience is needed to begin.

Paraprofessional
Are you interested in a rewarding career working with students in a school? Study with us to prepare for a career as a paraprofessional.
Harmony offers online ParaEducator preparation and in-person testing at Harmony Learning Center in Maplewood.
Adults seeking employment as a paraprofessional are often required to have an associate’s degree or at least 60 college semester credits. The ParaEducator test is an alternative way to satisfy this requirement.
We offer no-cost study classes and practice tests for the ParaEducator test. Testing is also available onsite. Students are responsible for testing fees, but financial assistance may be available to those applying for positions in District 622. How is the class structured?
Students receive an online account and all work is done online.The work is done individually with help available as needed.A student's progress will be monitored by a teacher.
How much do I have to study?
The online program consists of 13 lessons: 3 lessons about instructional support and 10 lessons
about basic knowledge.Each lesson is estimated to take an hour, but it depends on each student’s background and ability. There is ashort posttest at the end of each lesson.
How do I know if I am ready to take the ParaEducator test?
There are two practice assessment tests at the end of thecourse that will be similar to the formal tests. These can be taken more than once and will help you decide if you are ready for the actual exam.
How does the testing work?
Once the students are ready, they can make an appointment to come into Harmony to take the proctored tests.On each testing day, the students have two attempts at each test. After that, it is suggested to study more and come back another day.
What is the cost for the exam?
There is currently no testing cost for those employed as aDistrict 622 Paraprofessional. Please contact Harmony Learning
Centerfor the fee amount if you arenot employed as a current District 622 Paraprofessional.

Are you interested in a career in health care? We can help you train for an entry-level position on a track toward a career as a Home Health Aide (HHA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN).We work with local Senior Housing and assisted living and memory care facilities to help workers find employment.
School Bus Driver
Begin a career as a school bus driver in School District 622! If you do not have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and/or school bus endorsem*nt, we will help you get it.
Nursing Assistant
Gain the skills and certification to work as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant)!
Healthcare Bridge
Prepare for the college courses by learning medical terminology. Participation in this class will hold your spot in the Spring 2023 CNA class.

CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant)
This class will be held at Century College and at Harmony Learning Center. Class runs four afternoons per week and includes mandatory classroom training and skills training. The class is designed to help all students pass and is free for students. Upon completion of the class, students may take a test to become certified. Job placement assistance is available for students who successfully complete the program.The cost of tuition, books, a set of scrubs, and the state test is covered by Harmony.

Skills Brush-Up
The course offers individualized education opportunities for adults, such as college entrance exam prep and learning how to balance a checkbook. A drop-in class is offered at Harmony Learning Center.
Test Prep
A test prep course is offered for students interested in taking college entrance tests such as Accuplacer or Military testing.
Citizenship
We offer a twelve-week course designed to give ESL learners a better understanding of everyday life in the U.S and to prepare for the citizenship test. Citizenship classes run whenever at least 12 students are registered.
