SpongeBob SquarePants is the titular main protagonist of the famous animated television series, SpongeBob SquarePants. He appears in a mod of Friday Night Funkin' created by SpeedyBlueHedgehog, which replaces Boyfriend. He is also one of the ten main characters of the animated franchise of the same name. He was designed by the former marine biologist, Stephen Hillenburg. Hillenburg based SpongeBob on Bob the Sponge, a character he had created for his educational book "The Intertidal Zone" in the year 1984.

Appearance[]

SpongeBob is a sea sponge with a rectangular shape. He is light yellow with a light olive-green outline. In earlier episodes, he is wider near the top and gets skinnier going further down, akin to that of a trapezoid. However, in the more recent episodes, he is more of a regular square shape. SpongeBob has light olive-green pores, dimples with three freckles on each cheek, a large mouth with two prominent front buck teeth, a long, slightly curved nose, and large light blue eyes. Moreover, his eye color seems to be, uniquely, a shade of pacific blue (or Crayola cerulean,)

• The "My leg!" sound effect plays when SpongeBob loses.
• SpongeBob is able to absorb water.
  • Absorbency: Being a sponge, he is also absorbent, and can expand his body by absorbing liquids. Sometimes when SpongeBob cries, he re-absorbs his tears. An example is in "The Bully" when Flats the Flounder kept on hitting him, but SpongeBob just absorbed all of his blows. Also, in "I Had an Accident," he filter feeds through his holes, as he is a sponge.
  • This obviously makes sense as his character resembles a kitchen sponge although it's technically confirmed that he is a Yellow Tube Sponge, a type of Sea Sponge that lives on coral reefs around the Caribbean Sea and The western Atlantic ocean^[2].
• SpongeBob's original name was "SpongeBoy"; it was changed because the name was already trademarked by a mop company.^[3]
• The song that plays when SpongeBob loses is "Hawaiian co*cktail" which was made by was composed by Richard Myhill.
• The quote "This will be easier than flipping a Krabby Patty!" Is a reference to SpongeBob's Job.
  • SpongeBob is a fry cook at the Krusty Krab.
• The Snail SpongeBob mentions in Roses is mention his pet sea snail, Gary.
• While Stephen Hillenburg worked as a teacher of marine science at the Ocean Institute in California, he authored an educational book called The Intertidal Zone which he wrote back in 1984. The book was intended for children and taught about the behaviors of different sea creatures. Bob the Sponge, a natural sea sponge with sunglasses, was the "host" of the book.
• SpongeBob used to be left-handed, but in later episodes, he is ambidextrous, revealed in "The Splinter" and "You Don't Know Sponge."
• In "Help Wanted," it is revealed that SpongeBob's first words were "May I take your order?"
• SpongeBob should never get his driver's license, no matter what he does. This is because Hillenburg loved the dynamic between SpongeBob and Mrs. Puff, so SpongeBob getting his license would end it. Another reason is that it saved the show from being butchered by Nickelodeon executives who wanted to turn SpongeBob into a kid.

• In the episode "Mrs. Puff, You're Fired," it is revealed that SpongeBob has failed the driving test 1,258,056 times.

• In Deep-Sea Date Mod, his friend Fred can appear in the crowd that can be seen in the background.
• In Bob's Onslaught, SpongeBob can appear at the beginning of Ron.
• In Vs. Sonic.Exe, SpongeBob can appear in Sunky’s signature laugh, and turning into SpongeBob in the process.
