1. Current Character

The character you are currently controlling appears at the top of the character list. The green gauge shows the character's Stamina. If the gauge reaches zero, the character will automatically be replaced with the next conscious character. If all your characters are knocked out, you fail the quest.

Revival Candles

Revival Candles can be used to continue a quest without spending Spirit Orbs. One continue costs one Revival Candle. If you have both Spirit Orbs and Revival Candles, Revival Candles will be used first.

Attack

There are three types of attacks: normal, strong, and Special Moves.

Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (4)

Normal Attack

Tap the large attack button to perform a normal attack. A normal attack is a character's standard move and has no restrictions. Hold the button to perform a combo.

Strong Attacks

Tap one of the smaller attack buttons to perform a more powerful attack. Strong attacks have a cooldown time, and cannot be performed again for a short time after being used. Strong attacks may be a more powerful attack than a normal attack, or they may have another function such as boosting characters' parameters for a short time or recovering Stamina. Your character is also invincible for a short time after performing a strong attack.

Special Move

Tap the purple button to trigger a Special Move. Only ★3 or above characters have Special Moves. Special Moves cost one Soul Bomb every time they are used.

Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (5)

You start every quest with one Soul Bomb. Soul Bombs may be hidden in breakable objects found during quests. You can hold up to three Soul Bombs at one time. If you continue during a quest, you will re-join the fight with three Soul Bombs.

Status Ailment Attacks

Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (6)

Some characters have normal, strong, or Special attacks that have a chance to cause a status ailment when they connect. Attacks that have a chance to cause a status ailment have a special icon in the top left of the relevant attack button. The icon differs depending on the type of status ailment the attack can inflict.

Multiple Status Ailment-Inflicting Attacks

Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (16)

Some characters have normal attacks, strong attacks, or Special Moves that have a chance of inflicting multiple status ailments. These attacks have two status ailment icons next to their attack buttons. If such an attack inflicts a status ailment, the effects of both status ailments are inflicted at the same time.

However, if a character is resistant to one of the status ailments, only the status ailment that they are not resistant to will have an effect.

Breakable Objects

You can find breakable objects such as crates and vases during quests.

Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (17)

Breakable objects may contain Soul Bombs, Coins, Crystals, or Stamina recovery items. Break them open to get the object inside.

Combat

Enemies

Many enemies will appear to fight you during quests. Enemies have an Attribute and a level. Higher level enemies are stronger and harder to defeat.

Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (18)

Attacks are divided into two types: ranged and melee. Enemies glow red for a moment before attacking.

Status Ailments

Some enemy attacks or environmental features can inflict status ailments on your characters. Putting a character with a status ailment reduction Soul Trait in a Character Link slot can help protect your characters against these ailments.

Burn Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (19) Causes damage over time.
Freeze Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (20) Prevents the target from moving for a set period of time.
Paralyze Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (21) Paralyzes the character, preventing them from moving for a set period of time.
Poison Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (22) Causes damage over time.
Confuse Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (23) Confusion reverses movement controls and randomizes the direction of attacks.

Enemies in quests and characters affected by Confusion in Brave Battles also suffer the following effects:

- Attacks damage self
- Attacks damage all characters in range

Slow Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (24) Reduces movement speed and normal attack speed and disables strong attacks, Flash Steps, and Special Moves for a set period of time.
Weaken Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (25) Weakened characters take more damage from enemy attacks and their own attacks only do 1 point of damage for a set period of time
Lacerate Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (26) Lacerated enemies suffer damage over time and are also unable to use their strong attacks or Special Moves while the status ailment is in effect.
Drain Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (27) Characters affected by Drain suffer damage, and any attacks the character has that normally cause status ailments have zero chance to cause a status ailment while Drain is in effect. Drain also heals the attacking character.

Attributes

Characters and enemies have Attributes that are strong or weak against other Attributes. The five Attributes are:

Red: Power
Green: Technique
Blue: Speed
Purple: Heart
Orange: Mind

Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (28)

Attacking an enemy with an Attribute that is weak against your character's Attribute will result in your attacks doing more damage and you taking less damage from your enemy. However, if the situation is reversed and you engage an enemy with an Attribute advantage, your attacks will do less damage and you will take more damage when attacked. Fallen enemies may drop Crystals that match their Attribute.

Combos

Hit multiple times without taking damage to build your combo meter.

Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (29)

Chaining combos together increases the amount of damage you deliver. Taking damage from an enemy will reset the combo meter to zero.

Critical Hits

When you connect with an attack, you have a chance to cause a critical hit.

Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (30)

When you land a critical hit, the word "Critical" will appear next to the damage indicator and you will deal more damage than a standard attack.

Killer

As well as one of the standard Attributes (Heart, Mind, Power, Speed, Technique), most characters have an Affiliation that corresponds to one or more groups in the Bleach universe that they belong to (e.g. Soul Reaper or Arrancar). A character with a specific Killer ability will do more damage to an enemy with the corresponding Affiliation. For example, a character with the Soul Reaper Killer ability will deal more damage than usual to enemies with the Soul Reaper Affiliation.

Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (31)

The damage indicator will flash when a Killer ability is in effect.

Red Guard/Blue Guard

Some enemies are able to guard against ranged or melee attacks. You can break an enemy's guard for a short period of time by using strong attacks. The type of strong attack needed to break the different guard types depends on the color of the attack button. Enemies are also incapable of guarding against Special Moves.

Red Guard protects against melee attacks performed by tapping red attack buttons, greatly reducing the damage done by close-range attacks.

Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (32)

Blue Guard protects against ranged attacks performed by tapping blue attack buttons, greatly reducing the damage done by long-range attacks.

Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (33)

Attack Resistance

Some enemies are resistant to either melee or ranged attacks. Attacking an enemy with an attack type that they are resistant to will cause only one point of damage.

Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (34)

Melee Attack Resistance enemies are resistant to red attack buttons, and Ranged Attack Resistance enemies are resistant to blue attack buttons.

Status Ailment Resistance

Some enemies are resistant to certain status ailments. Check the quest details screen before starting a quest to see whether any enemies are resistant to status effects.

Dodging

Some enemies have a percentage chance to dodge player attacks. You can see information on which enemies have the ability to dodge in the Quest Info tab on the Prepare for Quest screen.

Iron Skin

Some enemies have the "Iron Skin" ability. Enemies with Iron Skin take a reduced amount of damage from attacks. However, this effect is nullified when the enemy is suffering from a status ailment. You can check which enemies have the Iron Skin ability in the Rules section for a quest.

Extra Stage

An Extra Stage may appear during some quests.

Quests|Bleach: Brave Souls Official|KLabGames (35)

Extra Stages contain better rewards that normal stages.

The time elapsed during an Extra Stage does not count towards your clear time for that quest.
